Dear Nidderdale league club senior and junior cricket secretaries,

I am Tom Halliday, the Nidderdale league U15 representative team manager.

We are again nominations for players to represent the league in the Yorkshire Junior Cricket Festival this year. Attached is the nomination form to be completed and returned to me ASAP for each player your club wishes to be considered. Full details are included on the form. Only players nominated to me via this process with a completed form endorsed by their club can be considered for selection.

The U15 team squad will consist of the best 12-13 players playing in the Nidderdale league combined from within school years 9 and 10. This year’s festival dates are August 8rd to 12th inclusive, with matches of 40 overs during each day against other representative sides from the leagues around Yorkshire. Only players who are available for these dates can be considered for trial and selection. In addition there will be a small number of practice sessions and matches on Sunday afternoons leading up to the festival dates.

Due to a competition rule change this year, any players who have played county representative cricket for Yorkshire A or B ( or Durham, Lancashire etc) in 2016 are not eligible to play in the YJCF competition. That is only the full county sides, playing for district level sides ie N Yorkshire, W Yorkshire etc is OK. Also anyone who played county level in previous years but is not playing in 2016 is also OK. As such please do not nominate 2016 full county players to me as we can’t use them.

This year the selection process will again follow the method used successfully in previous years with the initial trial phase being by invitation only from us, ie there will not be a “roll-up” open trial. The main purpose of this process is to ensure we see all the best players in the league from nomination by their club coaches on an individual basis and have adequate time to fully assess their abilities.

The first step will be for the clubs to nominate players to us that they think we should consider for the selection trial process. Attached is the nomination form to be completed for each nominee and endorsed by the club representative which must be returned to the email address below by June 12th. Only nomination forms approved by the club representatives will be considered.

We shall then select which players we wish to invite to the trial and will contact them directly via email. We would envisage taking 20-22 to trial so please only nominate players you think may be within the top 20 players in the entire league at U15 year group. Subsequently the initial trial date will be Sunday July 10th 2pm start at Scotton CC. Following completion of the trials we shall pick the final squad, again contacting all the nominees directly.

To be able to achieve this effectively it is vital the nomination forms are completed in full and the process followed in a timely manner. We do appreciate this will require significant effort by the clubs but should ensure no good players fall through the net.

If anyone has any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Many thanks in anticipation of your help.

Tom Halliday
Nidderdale Junior League U15 manager.
