Week Thirteen – Results and Performances

No change again at the top of Division One. Ouseburn are still leading the way with Darley their closest rivals in second place. Darley beat West Tanfield but looked like they made hard work of it whilst Ouseburn gave Helperby a 10 wicket spanking. In the battle at the basement, things are not looking good for Pateley Bridge who welcomed Knaresborough Forest to the Showground and are now adrift on 11 points at the bottom. Forest managed to get past the Pateley total with 15 overs to spare. Special mention to Jenny Parker who made her debut for Forest as an emergency fielding. A very different Spofforth side came second to the well oiled machine of Birstwith where Craig Robinson took 5-10 as Spofforth were dismissed for just 110 after Birstwith posted 238. Early predictions to join Pateley Bridge in Division Two next year must be one of either Alne or Bishop Thornton.

There is a similar story in Division Two with Masham making it a dominant 13 wins out of 13 and remain 7 points clear of Goldsborough in second place. After a couple of games affected by the weather, Blubberhouses were looking to regain some winning ways at home to struggling Dacre Banks but it wasn’t to be as Waqas Rasheed ripped through the Blubberhouses batsmen to return figures of 6-50. Goldsborough’s opening bowlers (Shorter 5-59 and James 4-44) took 9 Markington wickets between them after the Goldsborough batters had posted a getable 229/9 against Markington. Goldsborough bowled Markington out for just 131. Harrogate Strays’ Jordan Marshall tucked into the Thornton-le-Moor bowlers and posted 111 as Strays gained valuable points in their bid to remain in Division Two. Thornton’s Tom Stead was the pick with 4-49 but Strays posted 249/6 which the divison’s basement side couldn’t achieve.

Division Three is where the action is happening at the moment. Burnt Yates remain on top (just) but came a cropper at Bolton Abbey. Only one point separates Yates (54) from Abbey (53) with Wath and Melmerby on 51. Chasing hard though is Whixley on 47. Vsiting the Devonshire Ground, Burnt Yates batted first and were bundled out for just 67. Will Patchett did the damage with 4-17 alongside Will Lord’s 3-18. Bolton Abbey then made light work although lost 2 wickets in their run chase but took only 18 overs to win. Wath got back into their winning ways with a dominant performance over Whixley. Bobby Hilton smashed 112* accompanied by Adam Newcombe (85*) to pass the Whixley total in just 22 overs. That is 813 runs for Hilton in all competitions this season.
