Umpire Training is changing! From January, the old Level 1 course is being replaced by Stages 1 and 2.
Stage 1 gives a basic insight into the laws and is intended for those who wish to umpire at their own club. Stage 2 is for those aspiring to join a League Panel, which means, in the Nidderdale League, umpiring in Divisions 1 and 2, and cup matches. We are offering a Stage 1 course, immediately followed by Stage 2, starting in January. There is no exam at the end! With new laws now in force, it’s the ideal way to keep up to speed.
Registration and payment for the course is now done online. Go to UPCOMING UMPIRING AND SCORING COURSES and follow the link to the Stage 1 and Stage 2 courses at Ripley.
The cost for each stage is £30, but if Stage 2 is done immediately after Stage 1 (which is what we propose) it is discounted to £10, so the total will be £40. For that, participants receive course materials and a year’s membership of ACO.
If you are interested in umpiring, either from next season, or sometime in the future, please contact Barry Nickels on firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Remember: the next best thing to playing is umpiring! All the excitement of being out in the middle without the grinding disappointment of getting a duck or being hit for six. Why not give it a try?
