Notice of AGM: To The President, Life Members, Patrons, Management Committee Members and All Club Secretaries and Members, the Annual General Meeting of the Theakston Nidderdale Cricket League will be held at Ripley Town Hall on Tuesday 28th November 2017 beginning at 7.30pm

Each club may send two representatives. One should be the Secretary with each club having one vote per club. Life members, League officials and members of the management committee may also vote.

As Graham Hyde and Tricia Heard have given notice of their retirement as from the 2017 AGM from their respective positions of League Secretary and Assistant League Secretary nominations are invited for their replacements. Nominations are also invited for the new positions of Vice Chairman and Two Players Representatives. Any nomination for the above positions is to be submitted to the League Secretary in writing by no later than Friday the 24th November and must identify the position for which any nomination is being made and the proposer and seconder.

The papers to support this meeting are included in this post. These include a copy of the minutes from the 2016 AGM, the Agenda for the 2017 AGM and the rule proposals as received by the League Secretary.

This year will be a little different and will happen in two stages. The first stage will address the “normal’ rule changes proposals, including a significant change to the structure and composition of the League Management Committee outlined in this document:

The second stage will address structural changes to the format of the competition and a new, separate shorter format competition. It is envisaged that the second stage will also bring proposals to change the points structure to mirror that currently employed in the Aire Wharfe League to promote positive cricket.

In response to player feedback, the number of conceded fixtures and a general feeling that participation in the game of cricket is struggling, there are a number of work streams already happening to develop proposals to put to clubs. These proposals are now ready for you to see.  The Theakston Nidderdale League is responding to the challenges presented to it by players and clubs and offers its options.  It is up to clubs to make the changes happen.  We are planning for 5 and 10 years down the line and we all need to see the long game; otherwise there will be no game.

TNL Review Introduction

TNL – Division 1 and 2 Proposal for Change – addresses changes in Divisions 1 and 2 which have been worked up in consultation with captains and players of clubs currently in those divisions.  This workstream was lead by Chris Cill, James Townsend and James Cousen.  Each point will be addresses at the AGM and voted on.  Once this has happened, work will then take place to create the necessary rules for the competition and to write them into our constitution.  These will then be ratified at the EGM in January 2018.  It is very important that players contact their club secretaries to make their views known in these matters.

The second set of proposals are concerned with the formation of a new, separate Development League and/or changes to the format of Divisions 6 and lower.

A further EGM has been arranged for Tuesday January 16th 2018 at 7:30pm to give clubs the opportunity to vote on the proposals.

The LMC is fully committed to bringing about significant changes to the format and structure of the Theakstons Nidderdale League for the 2018 season. We hope you are all on board too. Every club is required to attend the AGM and EGM.
