MINUTES

The minutes of the meeting held on Tuesday 4th April 2006 were signed as being a true record of that meeting.

MATTERS ARISING

Concerns regarding the condition of the ground at Almsford Oval due to a lack of Autumn maintenance was raised following reports from league umpires after the first game of the new season. Ben Drummond had emailed Bilton secretary, Mick Dawson for a plan of action and distributed a copy of Bilton’s reply which satisfied the committee’s concerns.

Ben Drummond also had emailed Tony Coates of Harrogate CC due to the new Nursery Ground only having one sight screen in place at the start of the new season. Tony Coates had replied that a new sightscreen had been ordered and was expected in place for week 4 of the season. This was deemed satisfactory and no further action was taken.

GROUND VISITS 2006

Ground Visits had taken place the previous month and the members present gave their findings. Generally these reports were very favourable with only a handful of grounds giving cause for concern. These were :-

  1. Galphay and Winksley – severe moss infestation of the square requiring immediate action
  2. Markington – general poor condition of the square which was very disappointing given their most improved ground award
  3. Studley Deer Park – general condition of the ground especially given the high number of juniors playing cricket there every week.

A number of grounds had also shown significant improvement on the previous year and the report regarding Knaresborough Forest’s Calcutt’s ground and Studley Royal’s primary ground being the best two examples. The latter also prompted a brief discussion as to why the club could not bring the Deer Park up to a reasonable standard given the efforts being made at their main ground.
