Further Information
Beckwithshaw under 9's arrived at the Weeton and Huby ground to a clear, dry evening and with 4 players making their under 9 debuts. Pannal batted first and accumulated a useful total boosted by a flurry of boundaries from the last pair of Rory and James. Beckwithshaw's bowling was not as accurate as usual and too many wides were bowled. In addition there were also a couple of dropped catches. A special mention mut go to debutant Tom Stark whose bowled two great overs (especially his second over) and ended with 1 wicket for 2 runs. Oliver also picked up a wicket in his first match for the Club. In response Pannal's opening bowlers (Fraser and Tim) did well to restrict Beckwithshaw's run machines William and Ralph and picked up a wicket in the process. More tight bowling followed and there were also a couple of unecessary run outs. When Rory took two fantastic caught and bowled chances in the last couple of overs it spelled the end of Beckwithshaw's hopes of winning the match despite a couple of nice boundaries by Charlie Stokes. Well done to Pannal and thanks to Phil for hosting the match.
