Further Information

A bright and sunny evening at Knaresborough meant plenty of sun cream all round. Beckwithshaw batted first and got off to a steady start from openers Ralph and Joe with Ralph scoring 14 runs including 3 boundaries. Good bowling by Knaresborough then pegged Beckwithshaw back but with further boundaries coming from Jordan, Charles and Jonas. Charles' straight drive for 4 was a super shot. Just when things seemed to be going Knaresborough's way in came Charlie and Morgan. Charlie blasted 22 runs including 5 boundaries whilst Morgan played an important supporting role, unselfishly giving Charlie the strike on several occasions. It was pleasing that several of Charlie's 4's came as a result of him waiting for the ball to come to him and then pulling firmly into gaps on the leg side without trying to hit the ball too hard. In reply Beckwithshaw bowled and fielded very tidily with Charlie, Charles, Jordan Sam and Ralph (2) all getting wickets. Amongst these wickets was a smart caught behind by Morgan off Charlie and an excellent wicket maiden by Jordan. Joe was very good in the field throughout the innings with aggressive fielding and excellent backing-up. For Knaresborough Matthew was unlucky to hit several stylish shots that went straight to fielders. Well done to both teams on a good game played in the right spirit.
