Further Information

A very warm, sunny evening at BCC with the home team fielding a very strong side. Harrogate B had a much more inexperienced side and this was to prove decisive. Harrogate won the toss and asked BCC to bat first. A very strong team batting performance from BCC with 7 of the 8 batsmen getting into double figures and the only thing preventing Charlie doing the same was the fact that his batting partner Charles kept nicking the strike (have you taught him that Marcus?!). Some very good cricket shots throughout the innings with William's text book cover drives and Ralph's pull for 6 being particlularly memorable. Scores of 21 and 25 from Ethan and Jordan, respectively, represented a fantastic innings by each batsman. Harrogate's bowlers struggled a little bit throughout but Ben was outstanding, bowling with pace and accuracy and he deserved more than the one wicket he got. Nick also bowled well at the end to pick up two wickets and there was a spectacular piece of fielding to save a four by Charlie. In reply Beckwithshaw's bowling was accurate and hostile. Several bowlers got a wicket and for the second week in a row Jordan bowed a wicket maiden in his spell of 2-2-0-1. Also for the second week in a row we had a caught behind after a great catch behind the stumps by Charles off the bowling of Charlie. Well done to BCC on a great team performance and to Harrogate for sticking in there even though things were obviously not going their way. Well done also to Steve for stepping in and managing his team sympathetically and with good humour.
