Further Information
A cold night saw the visit of Birstwith to Beckwithshaw. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat getting off to a good start with Stamford and Hopkinson putting on 25 for the first wicket before Shaw's paceman Hebblethwaite rearranged Stamford's stumps. Hopkinson went on to make 20 before being bowled by Swires and was joined by Beeley who make an impressive 21 before retiring unbeaten. Tight bowling by Bond, Lister and Holberry restricted the visitors to 79 in their 20 overs. The home side's reply started in fading light and drizzle. Unaffected by the elements the free scoring Booth and Bond put the Birstwith attack to the sword making 21 and 20 respectively before retiring unbeaten. McGregor came in and make a solid unbeaten 14, before Birstwith's wicketkeeper, Hopkinson, shed the pads and had the home batters struggling with his pace. Hebblethwaite was bowled for 6 before Considine took a rising delivery on the glove. The home side surpassed the visitors total with 7 overs to spare to record the seasons first victory.
