Further Information
A busy night at Beckwithshaw with both the League game and a 10-a-side friendly taking place between the two sides simultaneously. In the League game Beckwithshaw batted first and after a good opening partnership of 29 by William (17 runs) and Joe (12 runs) Knaresborough pegged the home side back. Some good bowling and a few needless run outs meant that going into the last pair Knaresborough were in quite a strong position. An important last pair partnership of 23 between Jordan (13 runs) and Liam (12 runs) meant that Beckwithsaw had set a competitive but gettable total of 271. Wickets for James and Seb and tight bowling by Willem annd Dan had certainly restricted Beckwithshaw. In reply Beckwithshaw bowled brilliantly with Liam (2-1-1-1), Charlie (2-0-2-0), Tom (2-0-3-1) and William (2-0-5-1) the pick of the bowlers. However, all the bowlers played their part and the bowling of only 6 wides was an exceptional effort all round. Knaresborough struggled to get going against such accurate bowling and finished on 230 with Willem (8 runs) and Lewis (8 runs) the top scorers.
In the friendly game Beckwithshaw also came out on top with 270 playing 244. For Knaresborough Jack hit two big sixes and was well supported by Oliver. Excellent bowling by Jacob (2-0-4-1), Ben Waller (2-0-5-0), Tom Sharpe (2-1-0-2) and particularly Nathan (2-0-3-3) and Ben Clayton (2-2-0-2) restricted the Knaresborough scoring. In reply, excellent bowling by Edward (2-0-6-0), Matthew (2-0-6-0) and Louis (2-0-5-1) and good catches by Louis and Matthew kept Beckwithshaw in check but some powerful batting by Ben Clayton (8 runs), Nathan (11 runs) and Ben Waller (17 runs, including 2 sixes) allowed Beckwithshaw to edge the game. A great game of cricket between two well-matched and enthusiastic sides. Thanks to John and all 18 of his boys for a great night's entertainment.
