Further Information
On an overcast evening Beckwithshaw won the toss decided to bowl first. Tight bowling by most of the Beckwithshaw bowlers meant that Knaresborough Forest struggled to get any momentum in their innings. Matthew (11 runs, 2 fours) and Connor (6 runs, 1 four) were the only two batsmen to come to terms with the Beckwithshaw bowling attack. The pick of the bowlers were Grace (2 wickets for 4 runs) and Jordan (1 wicket for no runs) with Tom, Finlay and Henry also taking one wicket each. Henry’s wicket involved a great caught behind by Jordan. Ben's 2 overs for just 3 runs were exceptional for a 6 year old. Knaresborough Forest finished their innings on 246.
In response Beckwithshaw’s innings got off to a spectacular start with Jordan crashing 9 fours and 1 six in a magnificent innings of 42. A further good partnership (27 runs) between Tom and Henry ensured that Beckwithshaw were well and truly in the driving seat. Sensible batting by all the other batters meant that the home team finished on 311. Knaresborough Forest battled hard right to the end and Charlie, Elliott and Tom all picked up a wicket each.
Thanks to John and his team for an enjoyable game and hopefully KF can pick up some new recruits to make up for the players lost to other clubs.
