Further Information
Studley won the toss and elected to bat first, both their openers, Crewe and Simenacz took the attack to the Knaresborough bowlers and in doing so both retired in quick sucession. However Wilson came on to bowl, and bowled some superb leg spin to decieve the Studley Royal middle/lower order, His 6-6 was very impressive and well deserved it also helped resrict Studley to 80. Like the Studley openers, Knaresborough also got off to a flying start with openers Webster & Cutts running positively between the wickets. Studley brought Coull on, and with his agressive pace and accurate bowling enabled Studley to get the openers out. Next in was Witham who batted very well, by grafting at the start when wickets were falling and then playing shots as the innings went on, he was supported superbly by Tear who made a contribution of 12, Witham and Tear put on 34 at better than a run a ball. Keogh and Wilson then came in under pressure and Studley brought back their fast bowlers, but they both stepped up to the plate and saw Knaresborough home, it seemed to be Wilsons game to remember as he struck the winning runs with a booming on-drive for 4. Studley were a very good team and the game was closely contested throughout, the game could have gone either way.
