Further Information

For their fixture at Follifoot, Beckwithshaw fielded three debutants in league cricket and having won the toss decided to bowl first. The standard of the bowling and fielding were truly excellent with only 6 wides bowled in the whole Follifoot innings. All the bowlers did a great job but Jonathan, Jordan, Tom and Ben’s hostile bowling was exceptional and Jack got two wickets on debut. In addition Jonathan and Ben both took a catch and got a run out each with Ben’s catch being an absolutely spectacular effort. Some great shots by Dan near the end meant that Follifoot set Beckwithshaw a total of 231. The Beckwithshaw batting was also very solid with good partnerships throughout their innings. They got off to a great start with Henry (10 runs) and Grace (9 runs) batting very sensibly and playing some attractive shots. In particular Graces magnificent cover drive, all along the ground, was great to watch. A partnership of 25 runs between Matthew and Ben then kept the momentum going. Daniel (1 wicket for 9 runs) bowled with good pace and accuracy and young William bowled brilliantly for a 5 year old and was rewarded with figures of 1 wicket for 3 runs. However, the scene was set for Jordan and Jonathan who blasted a final partnership of 55 runs with Jordan (38 runs) hitting seven 4’s and a six in a typically aggressive innings. Beckwithshaw ended on 317 but credit goes to Follifoot for trying hard right to the end. It is clear that they have a couple of younger players who have a bright cricketing future. Good luck to all at Follifoot for the rest of the season.
