Further Information
A beautiful evening at Beckwithshaw and, having won the toss, captain Grace Booth chose to bowl first. Jonathan and Jordan bowled four accurate overs but despite this Pannal got off to a good start with 20 runs coming in the first partnership. Tim was the main run scorer with a well made 12. After the first pair departed it was pretty much all Beckwithshaw as an inexperienced Pannal side struggled to cope with some very accurate and penetrative bowling from all the Shaw bowlers. There were two wickets each for Grace (2-0-6-2), Matthew (2-0-5-2), Tyler (2-1-2-2) and Oliver on debut (2-2-0-2) as well as a wicket for young Ben Stokes. However, the star of the show was Ben Waller who took 5 wickets without conceding a run, including a triple wicket maiden, with an exceptional spell of left arm swing bowling. The tumble of wickets meant that Pannal finished on 193.
The Beckwithshaw innings got off to a good start with Tyler hitting five boundaries in his 22 runs and Oliver chipping in with a useful 9 runs. Most of the Beckwithshaw batters got some runs and at the end Jordan (24 runs) and Jonathan (15 runs) shared a partnership of 41 which included three sixes and some very well-taken singles. The Pannal bowlers plugged away and there was some good support in the field but Beckwithshaw were a little too strong and ended on a formidable total of 300.
Thanks to Phil and his boys for two good games, with one win each and we look forward to playing against them again next season.
