Minutes of the Management Meeting held at Ripley Castle - Monday, October 21, 2002

MINUTES of the meeting held on August 12th 2002 were signed as being a true record.

CORRESPONDENCE AND SECRETARY'S BUSINESS
Helperby have already been accepted by us to play a 2nd X1 in 2003 in Division 7.
Harrogate wish to enter a 4th X1 to play in 2002 in Division 7 - Agreed.
Pannal have applied to enter 1 4th X1 - no room unless Glasshouses withdraw.
Birstwith hope to play a 3rd X1 when there is room for them in Division 7.
M.C.C. fixture in 2003. Date confimed by M.C.C. - Wednesday august 27th 2003. Match to be played at Raskelf C.C.
Balls for 2002 Clubs will have a deduction from the cost of their order of balls in 2003. £10 will be deducted for each ball used in the 2002 Cup Competitions.
Roger Deakin letter attached. - agreed.
Arranwell Printers New Printers. Larkfield Colour Group have gone into liquidation and Arranwell will pick up and print our handbooks as before. Agreed.
Divisions 1 and 2 New Ball every match? Not necessary but must be identifiable as being a Lords Shooting Star.
Teas for Teams in Atkinson Swires Final It was agreed that these will from 2003 onwards be paid for by the League.
Ripley C.C. Ripley have entered a team in the Nidderdale Evening League.

TREASURERS REPORT
Bagby & Balk have no paid any subscription – they withdrew from the league in April this year
Bank Balance £10.878.
Club Subscriptions have not risen since 2000 Proposed increase 1st to £38 and 2nd and subsequent to £18.

UMPIRES SECRETARY
There are 8 persons attending the Umpires Course. It is hoped to have more umpires for the 2003 season.







COMMITTEE RETIRING
All 6(six) officials and members due to retire have expressed their willingness to be re-elected.
Official – Secretary – Tricia Heard, Treasurer – Neil Burtwistle, Junior League Representative – John Barrett.
Members – Peter Bentley, Bruce Jackson and Steve Whiteley
All the Disciplinary Panel are willing to stand again- Erik Thompson, david Buton, Steven Coombs – John Lyons, Roger Deakin. Dave Owram. Goff Wetherell and
Brian Vast.

ANNUAL DINNER Mike Watkinson – Speaker and Dusty Young – Entertainer have been confirmed as attending the Dinner. Eric Houseman is still hopeful of booking another speaker.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS
League X1
Bishop Thornton C.C. have asked the Management Committee to consider a change in selecting the League X1.
1. Replace the current League manager with a Selection Committee consisting of two umpires ( Jeff Watkins and Eric Appleton for example ) three 1stdivision captains or representatives and one 2nd Division captain of representative. When the team is selected and the captain appointed add the captain to the selection committee.
2. Make a member of the selection committee responsible for publicising the events, teams and results.
3. It should be an honour to represent the league and players should be rewarded for this with the presentation of cap and/or sweater. To pay for such, the League could ( and should ) cancel the dinner following the M.C.C. game
NOT APPROVED – PUT TO
MEMBERS AT THE NEXT A.G.M. AS A SEPARATE ITEM.

It was suggested that “cap” be awarded to players when they have represented the league in 3 ( three ) matches.
