CORRESPONDENCE AND SECRETARY’S BUNSINSS
Structure of the League Sicklinghall and Kirk Deighton still interested in joining.
Sub committee have held their first meeting and letter to go all clubs asking if any club was proposing to enter further teams in the next season or so. Also a Press Report to go to Ackrills asking if any clubs from other leagues were interested in a move.
Erik Thompson took detailed notes on this subject.
Ackrills Sir Thomas and Neil Burtwistle have met with Jean McQuarrie and Richard Neale Sub Editor ( Sport ) to discuss the Ackrill association with the League. Sponsorship of the League is firm and will continue so long as Jean McQuarrie is Editor.
Tricia Heard met with Jean McQuarrie and amongst other things discussed Ackrills proposal to feature a Match to Watch each week. This match will be selected on the basis of teams playing each other and the position they are in, in their division. Match to Watch will cover all divisions. Another feature will be profile on people within the league who have given long service and/or other special reasons etc. Another suggestion is that clubs vote on The Club providing the best cricket teas with the winners to be entertained to tea by Sir Thomas.
Registration of Players Letter to go to clubs prior to 2005 season re registration of players via Fax or E.Mail.
TREASURERS REPORT Bank Balance £6.144
UMPIRES SECRETARY REPORT All Division 3 teams have agreed to accept a League Umpire ( when one is available ) except Raskelf.
Colin Saunders has retired from Umpiring due to having suffered a further heart attack.
GROUND COMMITTEE REPORT All grounds were inspected prior to start of the season and the reports were discussed at latest meeting. Marton cum Grafton and Crakehall grounds are giving cause for concern.
JUNIOR LEAGUE There are 64 teams from 22 clubs now playing junior cricket throughout the Nidderdale Junior Crieket League.
Knaresborough and Glasshouses withdrew before the start of the season.
Darren Simpson of Pateley Bridge has been award a scholatship to attend the Cricket School at Scarborough.
SIX ASIDE INDOOR JUNIOR LEAGUES (Bill Kitson sent apology for absence) Thoroughly enjoyed by all players and it is the hope that Indoor Cricket will continue next winter as before.
CHILD WELFARE. (Bradley Atkinson sent apology for absence)
In his absence it was agreed that a letter go to all the clubs who had not appointed a Welfare Officer. Final warning stating that if a Welfare Officer is not appointed by June 1st then they will be called to a Disciplinary Hearing.
We must adopt the ECB Welfare Policy in its entirety.
Bradley Atkinson to be asked to organise 2 courses required and to contact Sir Thomas to agree dates.
LEAGUE REPRESENTATIVE SIDE REPORT. (Steve Potter sent apology for absence) Provisional date for Nidderdale v York Senior in the Yorkshire Interleague to be played at Masham on Sunday June 13th 2004.
CRISIS AT YCA. It was agreed that a cheque for £300 be sent to Y.C.A.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
Cricket Balls Eric Houseman that 4 doz balsls will be coming from ‘Oxford Cricket Balls’ for trial in July. These to be tested by Teams in Division one and two.
