Minutes of the Management Meeting held at Ripley Castle - Monday, August 22, 2005

MINUTES

The minutes of the meeting held on Aug 22nd 2005 were signed as being a true record of that meeting.

MATTERS ARISING

Peter Crack will find all the details before a letter is sent to Mrs Dorothy Thwaite.

CORRESPONDENCE AND SECRETARY’S BUSINESS

A better solution has been found to replace the fixture clashes set out in the minutes of July 4th. This has been done by reversing fixtures. All clubs have agreed to the reversals.
Our semi final of the Yorkshire Inter league cup has still to be arranged.
Change to Overseas Rule – Eric Houseman will draft new rule – Reference - people working here who wish to play cricket.
Can a club register or change their overseas player after the start of the Season? Change to league rule would be needed.
Promotion and Relegation between Divs 7 and 8 - Agreed to One up and One down to go to 2006.
It was agreed to purchase a cup for the new Division 8 and that it should be named the Alec Hammond Cup. The Secretary said she would speak to Anne Hammond to make sure that she approved.
Rainton have applied to enter a 2nd team next season.
Burton Leonard will enter a 3rd X1 if they can find a ground on which to play.
All 2004 trophies should have been in by Aug 21st – none yet received.
They will be fined as league rule. Barry Gill had to chase the trophies for Cup competitions.
Discussion followed as to whether fines or deduction of points would make clubs ‘ toe the line’

TREASURERS REPORT

Bank Balance £31277 with £22100 to pay for balls = £9127
6 clubs still not paid their subscriptions?

DISCIPLINARY PANEL REPORT

Colin Grazin has agreed to join the Disciplinary Committee. He is unable to attend this meeting.
David Burton reported on Masham v Harrogate – no further action.
Thanks to David for handling this matter.
Swiers and Swiers Appeal = hearing Thursday 25th Aug.
Ripon v Pannal = hearing Tuesday 30th Aug.
Knaresborough Forest v Bilton = hearing Tuesday 30th Aug.
Bishop Monkton v Dacre Banks = nothing to answer £10 cheque to be
Returned to Bishop Monkton.

CUP COMPETITIONS

Masham beat Pannal in Atkinson Swiers
Rainton beat Sharow in Reserve Knock Out
Thornton le Moor beat Boroughbridge in the Wath Cup.
All nine trophies had to be chased up ( referred to above )

UMPIRES SECRETARY REPORT

The top 3 teams in Div 3 will have have umpires leading up to the last
match of the season. This may mean that 1 or 2 matches in div 2 will only
have 1 umpire.
Umpires Course will start on Sept 30th at Ripley Castle for 12 weeks. Some
Prospective Wetherby League umpires may be attending.
Advertising Poster to be sent to all clubs.

GROUND COMMITTEE REPORT

When the Ground Marks are received at the end of September then the
Most Improved Ground will be discussed.
Letter went to Bolton Abbey following Poor Ground Marks having been reported.

JUNIOR LEAGUE

Lord’s Taverners teams done very well.
Under 11 won their Group – lost semi final to Airedale/Wharfedale.
Under 13 won 3 out of 4 – lost to Bradford in Semi final.
Under 15 lost all 3 matches.
Joe Lumb under 17 won 2, lost 2 and 2 unfinished.
Finals day at Studley Royal on September 4th

SIX A SIDE INDOOR JUNIOR

There will be 37 teams taking part in the 2005/2006 season
Under 17 - 7 Under 15 - 7
Under 13 - 9 Under 11 - 8 Under 9 - 6

This gives 121 hours of cricket which starts at Nidderdale Recreation Centre Pateley Bridge on October 1st.
There will be short fall of £266-90. League agreed to pay this.

CHILD WELFARE

No reply again from Wath on attending the Course.
They are one of the clubs not having paid their subscription.
If they don’t pay their sub and not attend a course they are in danger Of not being allowed to play any cricket if 2006.

LEAGUE REPRESENTATIVE SIDE

As reported in Secretary’s business we still have to play against Halifax in the Yorkshire Inter League Cup to be played on Aug 28th at Ripley C.C.
Steve Potter has informed the league that he will not continue as League Representative Manager next season. We are however pleased to announce the Karl Jankowicz has agreed to take over the position.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

League Dinner Speakers will be Robert Croft and Tony Cottey with Entertainer Brian Cheese.
Letters to go to clubs when the menu and price of ticket is decided.
The League secretary announced that if she were to be re-elected at the 2006 AGM for the next 3 years she may not continue after 2008. She will continue as for the last 13 years for 2006 and then perhaps her workload may be split and given to other committee members – jobs may be Fixtures, Registrations, Handbook, Averages, Trophies for presentation at Dinner.
