MINUTES

of the meeting held on July 7th were signed as being a true record.

WELCOME

Sir Thomas welcomed Roger Deakin to the Management Committee as the Disciplinary Panel Secretary – a new appointment.
Sir Thomas and Neil Burtwistle agreed to discuss the Honoraria to be paid to the holders of the following appointed officials – Disciplinary Panel Secretary, Cup Competitions Secretary, Umpires Secretary and Ground Committee Secretary.

MATTERS ARISING

It has not been confirmed as yet but it is still hoped that Barry Gill will take the appointment of Cup Competition Secretary as from 2004 onwards.
The Atkinson Swires Runners Cup which was missing at the time of the Final on August 3rd has turned up and will be presented to Masham when they play at Killinghall next Saturday.

CORRESPONDENCE AND SECRETARY’S BUSINESS

Harrogate Cricket Club have asked permission to negotiate with Airedale and Wharfedale League to discuss the possibility of Harrogate Strays to change leagues. Permission was granted after checking that no monies were due from them.
Staveley Cricket Club have requested that they be refunded the cost of Cricket Balls lost when playing away at Almsford Oval Ground – home ground of Bilton 3rd and Harrogate Strays. – turned down.
Letter from Staveley Cricket Club received re overseas players playing in Division three. Letter to go to Staveley stating that if they wish to propose any Rule Changes then they should be put in writing and sent to the League Secretary before Oct 10th 2003

TREASURERS REPORT

Bank Balance £ 7.4986 There are still 9 clubs who have not paid their fees. The Treasurer to write to the clubs.
We need to have the sponsor money ( was £1575 last season ) from Ackrills presented at the Annual Dinner. The Secretary to speak to Mark Absolon and report to Neil Burtwistle. 4 tickets to be available to Ackrills for the dinner.

UMPIRES SECRETARY

Posters have been e sent to all clubs re the umpires and scorers course which will start in September.
Guy Smalley is now fully qualified and will run the course along with Ron Fry ( if he wishes to do so )
The M.C.C. match at Raskelf will be umpired by Jeff Watkins and Barry Canham.

GROUND COMMITTEE

Newby Hall Ground is still causing some concern.
If Thircon were to win promotion to division 2 they may not be promoted due to the non facilities at their home ground – they still have problems.

DISCIPLINE

Harrogate v Blubberhouses closed.
Bolton Abbey v Burton Leonard letter of apology received by Mike Pallott – now closed.
Harrogate Gas Sports v Darley 2nd could not proceed as the complaint was received too late.

JUNIOR LEAGUE & ASSOCIATION OF CRICKET COACHES

are to amalgamate ( under the umbrella of the Nidderdale and District Amateur Cricket League if agreed at this meeting. )
At the next meeting of the Junior League Meeting formal amalgamation will be made Association of Cricket Coaches as a sub-Committee.
At present Coaching takes place at Harrogate. Knaresborough. Boroughbridge and Pateley Bridge where the coaches give their expertise free of charge. The Joe Lumb coaching will be held at Harrogate Grammar School on Wednesday Evenings. The funds at present held by the Coaching Association will be handed to the Junior League. The Coaching Association has provided funds for the Scarborough Coaching School held annually early in August. A Scholarship to be named the Reg Dickens Scholarship. Eric Houseman has stood down as Chairman and his place taken by Ed Cousen. Barry Gill to be Secretary and Mike Boar the Senior Qualified Coach. The Sub committee to be formed from all the Coaching Centres.
Clubs will be circularised for names of boys to go to North Allerton. All clubs are aware of this proposed amalgamation.
The Management Committee agreed to the Amalagamation.

REPRESENTATIVE SIDEUnable to play the fixture on August 10th due to accident and injury. It is hoped that the fixture will still be played now at a later date.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

It was suggested that the M.C.C. Match in 2004 should be played at Ripley C.C.
Reminder M.C.C. Match at Raskelf August 27th.
Headingley Luncheon Thursday August 28th Names to Eric Houseman. Main Speaker to be Tom Graveney.
