Minutes of the Management Meeting held at Ripley Castle - Monday, February 11, 2002
MEMBERS PRESENT Sir Thomas, Tricia Heard, Jeff Watkins, Peter Bentley, Bill Kitson, Chris Newton, John Barrett, Tony Whittaker, David Burton, Peter Crack, Erik Thompson, Ben Drummond, Steven Whiteley, Bruce Jackson and Paul Pattison.SIR THOMAS welcomed Ben Drummond and Steven Whiteley having been elected to the committee at the Annual General Meeting.
APOLOGIES were received from Eric Houseman. Alex houseman. Neil Burtwistle and Steven Coombs.
MINUTES of the meeting held on December 3rd were signed as being a true record.
MATTERS ARISING No matters arising.
CORRESPONDENCE AND SECRETARYS BUSINESS
M.C.C. match will be played at Newby Hall. Confirmation of date and time plus map to be sent to Lords by March 1st.
Handbook - Ground Committee Standards for Clubs in Divisions 1 and 2 to be printed.
TREASURERS REPORT Treasurer had sent apology for absence - Bank Balance of £7.606.
UMPIRES SECRETARY a desperate shortage of Umpires. Only 22 for this season.
One has gone to Airedale and Wharfedale, one given up completely and one has had to give up due to Doctors orders. Of the 22 we have 3 can only stand alternate Saturdays and these are the same Saturdays. We need 32 Umpires for the first round of the Wath Cup.
We pay Umpires £25 - Airedale and Wharfedale pay £18 plus travelling of 25p per mile.
A letter to be sent to all clubs to nominate one umpire from each club. May be called on perhaps just once in the season. Bill Kitson will send these letters and Jeff Watkins will then have the list of names received to keep on file to call on when required. This letter to be sent to Ackrills for inclusion in their publications.
GROUND COMMITTEE SECRETARY Chris Newton reported that a letter had been received from Thircon re their non promotion to Division 2. All committee members have had copy of this letter. The Committee were reminded that Birstwith and Lofthouse & Middlesmoor had asked for help and were given it when needing to improve their facilities. A reply will go to Thircon soon after this meeting.
Grounds will have their pre-season inspection by members of the Ground Committee by Easter Weekend.
A letter will be sent to all clubs in the 3rd Division re standards and facilities required at all grounds for clubs with teams in Divisions 1 and 2 of the league.
DISCIPLINE Erik Thompson reported that there was still one incident outstanding from 2001 season - Burnt Yates v Harrogate Gas Sports. This hearing is scheduled for Wednesday February 13th here at the Castle at 7.30pm. The Committee will be David Burton. Goff Wetherall and Roger Deakin.
Bruce Jackson was appointed to the Disciplinary Panel to make up the required number of Management Committee members on the panel. This was due to Ron Fry not now being on the Management Committee.
The Panel is now Erik Thompson, David Burton, Peter Crack, Steven Coombs, Bruce Jackson ( management committee), Roger Deakin, John Lyons, Goff Wetherall, Dave Owram and Brian Vast ( club members)
A Sub Committee to Study the Rules and Constitution and make any alterations necessary ( to be put to the A.G.M. in 2003 ) was formed consisting of Erik Thompson
David Burton and Tricia Heard plus 2 to be co-opted.
The Umpires and Scorers Sub Committee is still Erik Thompson. Tricia Heard. Ron Fry. Guy Smalley. Colin Saunders. Bob Hesk. Ellie Jackson. Paul Pattison and Jeff Watkins.
A.G.M
Ladies at the League Dinner. The vote was 22 - 22. It was agreed that Life Members and Patrons should be given a Free Dinner Ticket.
INDOOR 6 ASIDE These under 15 and 13 players enjoying competition. Under 15 - 5 teams and Under 13 - 7 teams.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
A question had been raised at the A.G.M. about the cost of the Dinner following the M.C.C. Match. - This was the way of thanking our players for their efforts during the season representing the league in interleague competition.
