Wednesday August 2007 - Arthur Barrett U17s Cricket Cup final - Monday 30th July 2007
In a repeat of last years game Raskelf once again met Harrogate in the Arthur Barrett U17s Cup final played at Bilton Cricket Club.
Raskelf won the toss and decided to bat with Chris Horner (51) and Robert Sigsworth (32) posting an impressive opening stand of 58 before the 1st wicket went down. Raskelf held solid on an excellent batting track posting 111 for 4 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Harrogate struggled to make any impression with the ball, the best Harrogate bowling figures going to Dale Tobin with 2 wickets for 34 runs in his 5 overs.
Harrogate came out to bat chasing a creditable run rate of 5.5 per over. Their innings mirrored the Raskelf performance and things were neck and neck for the first 5 overs. Gradually Harrogate fell behind the run rate due to Raskelf’s impressive fielding and bowling. First change bowlers Josh Leeming and Sam Davill turned the screw on the Harrogate batsmen, they failed to respond and a batting collapse led to them falling well short of the Raskelf total by 26 runs. Nick Lindley the only Harrogate player to reach double figures with 27. Pick of the Raskelf bowlers were Sam Davill with 4 wickets for 23 runs and Josh Leeming with 2 wickets for 23 runs.
A well earned victory for Raskelf in an excellent all round performance the game being a real credit to Nidderdale Junior Cricket. The Ed Cousen Man of the Match went to Chris Horner for his match winning performance of 51 runs with the bat.
