Tuesday September 2007 - U11s Pairs League Final - Bishop Thornton v Harrogate
Another David v Goliath final as per the U9's with big club versus Village club, however a lot closer.
Bishop Thornton batted first due mainly to being a man short initially. They managed to slowly build a score trying hard to get past Harrogate's fielders, lot's of quick singles having to be taken to try to move the score on. The last pair coming together at a run as their last man arrived for the game. Finally amassing a score of 254.
Harrogate started well, but then suddenly lost a couple of wickets, which reduced their score to very close to the target. The final pair managed to edge ahead needing only to defend their wickets in the final over where the loss would have sent the game in the oppositions favour, a massive effort on the final ball from Thornton unfortunately saw the ball go for 4 wides which then sealed the game for Harrogate. A very even and exciting game for all involved especially the parents and supporters from each club. Well done to all involved.
Finally a big thank you to all the pairs coaches throughout the League for their efforts throughout what has been a very difficult season with the very un cricket friendly weather.
