Thursday June 2010 - Junior six-a-side Indoor League

Dear Team Manager/Coach,

The next season of the Nidderdale Junior Six-a-side Indoor League Competition will commence on 25th September 2010 at Nidderdale Recreation Centre, Pateley Bridge, through to the finals in April. We have secured the use of a second venue at Boroughbridge Leisure Centre, which will provide the extra playing time we require and has enabled us to extend the invitation to more clubs throughout Yorkshire. This should hopefully reduce the need for abridged leagues and make the competition more competitive. Where possible games will be regionalised, but depending on numbers, clubs can expect to play at both locations if necessary. The Boroughbridge staff has kindly agreed to help with the sessions but coaches will still be required to help with both umpiring and scoring. (Bill and I will be attending both centres on different dates.) Any volunteer scorers will be very welcome.

Any club with juniors who wish to enter should complete the attached form and return by e-mail or post to the above address: no later than 16th July. If you are sure you have a team but not the full details of the coach, these may be added later. If you have difficulties with the form, please e-mail the required details.

The objective of the League is to give as many youngsters as possible the opportunity to play competitive cricket and it is quite in order for clubs to enter more than one team in any age group providing you have sufficient players e.g. if your A team has to play your B team. Please check that your players meet the criteria for the correct age group; age at 1st September 2010.

Before entering, please ensure that the players (and their parents!) are aware of the need for the teams to be able to fulfil all their games. As with previous years, the up-take for the competition is expected to be high and it is always extremely difficult to accommodate all the required fixtures. It is never usually possible to reschedule missed games and is unfair to other players if a club withdraws once the fixtures have been issued.

For any club who have not previously entered please note that there are five age groups, Under17, U15, U13, U11 and U9. Each age group is spread over the winter and may only involve 3 – 4 visits to the Centre dependant upon the number of teams in that league. Games of one-hour duration are played in sessions of two or three per visit.

Do not hesitate to contact either Bill or me if you have any queries or require any further information. The entry form can be downloaded here.

Many thanks,

Val Kitson
