Monday July 2011 - YCB ACO North Yorkshire Branch to Deliver a Level 1 Umpires Course
With all the international matches, domestic county competitions and national cups, you will understand why we need to encourage and maintain a steady flow of new officials to help us manage all of these and the rest of the games that are played up and down the land every week.
Even if you just wish to umpire at your son or daughter's school or score for your local village team, you are as vital to the game and to us as any first class or county official, and so we welcome you warmly and wholeheartedly.
To achieve all this we operate as an independent association with the wholehearted support of the ECB and have a small team of our own executives in the main ECB office at Lord's; working through the regions to each County board, so that you are supported and represented by them and that your individual voice and views can be expressed to them and heard by us. At a local level, training and support of officials is delivered in our area by the YCB ACO North Yorkshire branch.
Anyone, including players, parents of juniors and current umpires or are invited to attend an umpires' training course to learn or refresh their knowledge of the Laws of Cricket. The course will begin on Monday 3rd October at Ripley Castle Tea Rooms from 7.30pm. The course will be run by Richard Jones, an accredited ECB ACO tutor who umpires regularly in the Bradford League. Don't feel obliged that once trained you have to stand as an umpire in any games but vacancies are available in all local cricket leagues for qualified umpires. Use this training to increase your knowledge and appreciation of the game of cricket.
