Wednesday July 2012 - Under 9 Coad Cup
On a bright and sunny Sunday the Arrowselfdrive.com Nidderdale Junior Cricket League Under 9 Coad Cup was finally completed.
22 teams started in the competition, and on Sunday it was down to the 8 quarter finalists.
The Quarter Final results were:
Spofforth 275 beat Beckwithshaw 213
North Stainley 299 beat Knaresborough A 213
Harrogate A 349 beat Studley Royal A 220
Knaresborough B 291 beat Whixley 223
The Semi Final Results were:
Spofforth 330 beat Knaresborough B 262
Harrogate A 328 beat North Stainley 242
In the fourth year of the competition a new name therefore had to be added on the trophy for the winners.
Runners Up: Spofforth
Spofforth batted first and thanks to scores of 43 from Matthew Bird and 22 from Thomas Brotheridge amassed a total of 302. This was a good score, especially against some very good bowling and fielding, but Harrogate had other ideas and accumulated a total of 326.
Harrogate were the deserved winners on a day when they had convincingly won all three of their matches.
